Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)
Introduction
You Are Not Alone is an online support community for parents of autistic and PDA children. It offers understanding, shared learning, and connection through live Zoom calls and a growing library of videos, articles, podcasts, and practical resources - all shaped by lived experience and professional insight.
This space is for parents and carers of autistic and PDA children who want support that feels human, understanding, and realistic. Whether you’re newly navigating this journey or have been on it for years, you’re welcome here.
No. You Are Not Alone offers reflective, experience-led support and learning. It is not a replacement for medical, mental health, or legal advice. If you or your child need specialist or urgent support, we encourage you to seek appropriate professional help.
Zoom calls
We aim to offer live calls across 46 weeks of the year. This allows us to take planned breaks so we can continue offering support in a sustainable and thoughtful way.
Occasionally, calls may be cancelled or rescheduled due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, and where possible we’ll always let you know in advance.
No - attendance is completely optional. Some parents come regularly, others dip in when they need support, and many use the recorded resources more than the live sessions. You can engage in whatever way feels right for you.
Some calls may be recorded and shared with members, but recordings are not guaranteed. We prioritise creating a safe and respectful space, and not all conversations are appropriate to record.
That’s completely okay. Many parents’ lives are unpredictable. Your membership gives you access to a wide range of resources you can use in your own time, and you’re always welcome back to live calls when it feels possible again.
